Govind Kizhepat
Founder and CEO
A semiconductor industry veteran, Govind founded NetXen, while serving as an entrepreneur in residence (EIR) at the venture capital firm, Benchmark Capital. Prior to joining Benchmark, Govind was Executive Vice President of Globespan (CNXT), a leading worldwide provider of integrated circuits (chip sets), software, and system designs for broadband solutions. At Globespan, Govind headed the Media Gateway Division where he was responsible for video and audio codecs as well as voice over packet products. In 1996, Govind founded iCompression, and served as the company's founding CEO and Chairman. Govind grew iCompression to be the industry leader in MPEG encoders and voice over packet codecs before arranging the sale of the company to Globespan in a stock deal valued at more than $400 million.
Before founding iCompression, Govind held various technical leadership and management positions at S3, and Sun Microsystems where he played key roles in the development of SuperSPARC and UltraSPARC processors. Govind holds a BSEE from Delhi University, and an MSEE from Wayne State University.
David Pulling
President
David Pulling is a seasoned business executive with more than 20 years in the semiconductor industry. Prior to joining NetXen, David was an Executive Vice President of ServerWorks where he was responsible for sales and marketing activities. As a founding member of the ServerWorks' team, he grew the company's server chipset business to over $400M, with a market share of 90%, and played a key role in the sale of ServerWorks to Broadcom for $2.1B. Prior to ServerWorks, David held a number of executive management positions at Ross Technology, a leading SPARC processor vendor. As Vice President of Strategic Marketing, David was instrumental in taking Ross Technology public in 1995. David has a BSEE from West Virginia University and an MBA from the University of Dallas.
Sanjeev Jorapur
Vice President of Technology
Sanjeev is an industry veteran with 20 years of management and technical experience in the areas of enterprise and network computing. Since joining Netxen, he has led the architectural and technological efforts behind NetXen's products. Prior to NetXen, he co-founded CoWave Networks, which pioneered the wireless mesh architecture. At CoWave, he was responsible for the architecture and software development of its initial products. He has held senior technical positions at HP, where he was one of the key architects of a distributed, multi-node system. Earlier in his career, he worked at Unisys as one of the architects of "Opus", a distributed, Single System Image, UNIX implementation. Sanjeev holds a B.Tech in Computer Science from IIT, Mumbai.
Vikram Karvat
Senior Director of Marketing
Vikram has 15 years of experience in marketing and sales, in the systems and semiconductor segments. Vikram's career spans the PC, server and networking industries. Prior to joining NetXen, Vikram was director of marketing at Broadcom, where he was responsible for strategic planning and product marketing for server chipsets. While at Broadcom, he successfully launched the storage product line of chips used by top tier enterprise storage vendors. Before that, Vikram spent six years at National Semiconductor marketing processors, server chipsets and networking products. He holds an MBA degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and a BSEE from the University of Alberta, both with honors.
Chuck Tybur
Vice President of Worldwide Sales
Chuck joined NetXen from Intel Corporation, where he served in diverse sales and marketing roles throughout his 17-year career with that company. He most recently served as Intel's worldwide director of sales operations for the "World Ahead" group, a position in which he led global market development efforts to increase consumer access to affordable PCs in emerging markets. In prior management positions in Intel's sales organization, Chuck led efforts to increase Intel-based enterprise design wins in the data center at Fortune 500 companies in the oil and gas markets; managed global marketing programs for business expansion in government, education and small-to-medium business areas; and led regional sales efforts for Intel Online Services. He has extensive experience in OEM sales, having led Intel's server and network chip, board, and system sales to Dell Computer from 1992 to 1998. He graduated from Rutgers College of Engineering in New Jersey with a BSEE degree.
Walt Wallach
Vice President of Software Engineering
Walt has more than 15 years of experience in senior technical leadership positions in the server and software industries. Prior to joining NetXen, he was vice president of Software and Strategy at Penguin Computing, leaders in Linux clustering and management software. Prior to Penguin, he led the clustered database effort for Industry Standard Servers at Hewlett-Packard. He also managed a server interconnect development group, developing Windows support for Servernet, InfiniBand and TOE/RDMA over Ethernet. Before that, he was vice president of engineering at SUMA Technologies, a system management software company, and was chief technology director at NetFRAME Systems, a manufacturer of highly available clustered servers. Walt holds an MSEE degree from Stanford University and a B.S. degree in Engineering from Newark College of Engineering. He holds 48 hardware and software patents.
Ross Werner
Vice President of Hardware Engineering
Ross is an industry veteran with 25 years of experience in ASICs, computer and systems architecture, and system level design in the workstation, networking, optical telecommunications, storage, and computer graphics market segments. Prior to NetXen, he held senior management and engineering positions in several startups as well as large companies including Apple, Precision I/O, Agile Storage, Terawave Communications, Silicon Graphics, and NeXT Computers. Mr. Werner holds BSEE and MSEE degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. He is author or co-author of 10 U.S. patents.
