Key topics of discussion include top trends and technologies from the experts who are looking far into the next decade and how end users' futures will be changed by the latest breakthroughs in virtualization, energy efficiency, and security. End users will also discuss the issues and pain points they are looking to the blade community to resolve in the upcoming years.
Session:
"Scaling the Data Center: Technologies and Trends"
On the processor front, Intel and AMD will be adding more and more cores to their CPUs. On the I/O front, 10Gb Ethernet is becoming more affordable and available. Data centers of the future must become increasingly efficient to fully utilize the growing number of cores and multiple 10G interfaces on modern systems. One way to fully utilize these systems is to deploy a large number of Virtual Machines, but there is hypervisor overhead associated with the VMs. This can be minimized by various I/O virtualization technologies. This session will focus on the technologies needed to build efficient, next generation data centers using blades and 10 Gigabit interfaces.
