NX3031 Intelligent NIC^®

The NX3031 is the third generation of a family of highly integrated, fully programmable Intelligent Network Interface Controllers (Intelligent NIC^®) designed to process multigigabit network I/O streams. The NX3031 has two 10 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces; four Gigabit Ethernet interfaces; and FlexLOM, a feature unique to NetXen.

The NX3031 is built around NetXen's custom Protocol Processing Engine (PPE). The PPE is a general purpose processing engine that is highly optimized for data sequencing operations that typically present themselves in the I/O domain. It has an extremely efficient, highly parallel architecture — it is a multi-threaded core, able to execute up to twelve 64-bit operations per clock with very low latency. The efficiency and performance of the PPE provides state machine like throughput for I/O processing tasks with the advantage of being fully programmable.
